Stolis Winner, stripped of his All American Futurity win by the New Mexico Racing Commission, received top honors on Tuesday, February 10 from the American Quarter Horse Association as 2008 Racing World Champion, Champion 2-Year-Old, and Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding.

Although a final hearing is pending on the outcome of the New Mexico stewards’ findings against Stolis Winner, AQHA announced on Monday that their votes had been cast before the New Mexico findings were presented.

Bred and owned by former AQHA president Jerry Windham, Stoli-sired Stolis Winner received 22 out of the 25 votes cast for world champion. His record of 8 wins from 9 starts, with earnings of $1,820,437, included the All American, Rainbow, and Heritage Place futurities.

Jerry Windham was also voted champion breeder with 51 wins, 40 seconds and 38 thirds in 276 starts, and $2,952,385; as well as champion owner with 18 wins, 13 seconds and 8 thirds in 86 starts, and $1,947,338.
