The NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale, on Tuesday, December 11, set a record with a net average increase of 29% over the 2011 sale. The 2012 net average was $23,243 on 110 head with a gross average of $29,499 on 148 head; while the 2011 sale had a net average of $16,350 on 92 head and a gross average of $20,500 on 117 head. Overall the sale reflects a 40% net increase over the past five years.

Smart Lil Jackson, consigned by his his trainer, Hayden Upton, was the high seller at $205,000. The full brother to 2012 NCHA Futurity Open Ltd. reserve champion and Open semi-finalist High Brow Jackson is by High Brow Cat out of Money Talks Smart, by Smart Mate.

Freckles Lena Cat brought $147,000, the second-highest price of the sale. The red roan son of High Brow Cat is a full brother to 2010 NCHA Open Futurity finalist Boons Catalena, LTE $84,997. He was consigned by Bronco Billy’s, LLC and is in training with Clint Modistach.

Lipshys Black Cat, consigned by Bar M Ranch, sold for $100,000, the third-highest price of the day. The black filly, sired by Metallic Cat, is half-sister to NCHA Horse of the Year Reys Dual Badger, sire of two 2012 top scoring NCHA Futurity Open semi-finalists.
