Dont Look Twice, the richest cutting horse mare of all time, claimed her seventh Mercuria NCHA World Series of Cutting victory September 2 at the Idaho CHA Futurity in Nampa. Ridden by Phil Rapp for Louis and Corliss Baldwin’s Waco Bend Ranch, Dont Look Twice marked 229 for a three-point win over Morgan Cromer on Brinkman Ranch’s Cats Full Moon.
It was the second year in a row that Dont Look Twice has won the Mercuria event at the Idaho Futurity. Her other wins in the prestigious series were at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and the Battle in the Saddle in 2011, and the Augusta Futurity, San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and Houston this year. No other horse has won more than two Open finals in the Mercuria NCHA World Series.
Dont Look Twice, a 7-year-old bred by Phil and Mary Ann Rapp by High Brow Cat out of Tapt Twice, has earned nearly $700,000, and she has a sizable lead in the 2012 NCHA World Standings.
Brandon Dufurrena won his second Mercuria Non-Pro title on Miss Ella Rey. He had previously won at Houston on the 7-year-old Dual Rey mare, which was bred by LKC Ranch.
At Idaho, Dufurrena marked 226 to win by four points over Ray Baldwin on Mylanta Lano.
