Kenli Marvin and MK Vivian posted a 227, the highest score of all three rounds at the Grace Ranch NCHA Youth World Finals, Wednesday in to win the show championship in the Junior division. It also gave her a come-from-behind tie with Jake Baca for the 2012 Junior Youth World Championship title.
Marvin, from Barnsdall, Oklahoma, came into the World Finals in third place in the standings. She marked 220.5, 216 and 227 in the three rounds for the show title.
MK Vivian is a 5-year-old mare bred and owned by Gene McKown. She is by Kit Dual out of Runnin Mate, by Smart Mate. She’s earned over $100,000 and has won several Open limited age events with Kenli’s father, NCHA Futurity champion Tommy Marvin.
The 2012 Junior Youth Co-World Champion, Jake Baca, is from Vega, Texas. He rode Jewelin Jo Chita for scores of 219.5, 205 and 213 through the World Finals to hold onto the lead he brought into the show.
Jewelin Jo Chita is owned by Jake’s parents, Tye and Julia Baca. The 12-year-old mare was bred by Skip Hobbs and is by Tachitas Jewels out of Brinks C Bars Jo. She has earned over $55,000 and carried Tye Baca to a Top 10 finish in the $20,000 Non-Pro standings a few years ago.
Last summer, Jake won the NCHA Junior Scholarship cutting riding the mare.
