After leading the go-round, Dax Hadlock marked 215 in the finals on Playfull Reward to win the Senior Youth championship Saturday at the 6666 Ranch NCHA Western National Championships in Reno, Nevada.
Playfull Reward was bred by Patrick Clements.
The 10-year-old mare is owned by David Whitaker of West Warren, Utah. She is by Dual Reward out of Playfully Yours, by Freckles Playboy.
Whitaker was also a finalist in the $2,000 Limited Rider on Playfull Reward at the Western Nationals.
This is the third year in a row that Hadlock has qualified for the Senior Youth Finals on the mare at the Western Nationals.
Junior Youth
Haylee Sleeman and Brandon Westfall split the championship in the Junior Youth division when both of them marked 222 in Saturday’s finals.
Sleeman rode TR Smart Rey, a 6-year-old mare bred by Janyce Parmer and owned by Jenifer and Les Whisler. TR Smart Rey is by TR Dual Rey out of Bunny Lena, a daughter of $102,000 earner Lenas Playboy Bunny.
Westfall rode High Style Royal, owned by Theron Chapman Jr. High Style Royal was bred by Carolyn Reynolds by CD Royal out of SR High Style, a producer of earners of more than half a milllion dollars. High Style Royal has earned over $70,000 in Open company with Russ Westfall, and was a $10,000 Novice finalist at the Western National Championships.
