Ben Neasham of Goleta, California marked 221 on Peptos Chic Olena to top a slate of 22 qualifiers for tomorrow’s $2,000 Limit Rider finals at the 6666 Ranch NCHA Western National Championships in Reno, Nevada. It took a score of 209 or better to advance to the finals.
Last year, Neasham ranked 53rd in the NCHA World Standings after earning checks with Wena Money Doc at four shows.
In Reno, he rode Lauren McIntyre’s 6-year-old mare Peptos Chic Olena to set the pace as the next-to-last contestant in the $2,000 Limit Rider go-round.
Bred by Bruce and Connie Clark, Peptos Chic Olena is by Sweet Lil Pepto out of Chic Olenas Promise, a Smart Chic Olena mare that has also produced another NCHA money earner.
Pedro Ornelas marked the second high score in the $2,000 Limit Rider go-round, a 217.5 on Rouge Blues, a Peptoboonsmal 5-year-old owned by Connie and Richard Bertel.
