Sister CD, the leading active NCHA money earner, won the 2008 Brazos Bash Non-Pro Classic with 222 points under Elizabeth Queen, on October 6 at Silverado on the Brazos. The $15,000 championship boosted his career record to $681,100. Last week, Queen’s husband, Skip, split third and fourth in the Open riding the CD Olena-sired gelding.
Newly wed Matt Miller claimed reserve in the Non-Pro Classic with 219 points on Soda Rey Bay, by Dual Rey. Miller, who married fellow non-pro competitor Megan Merrill on September 6, was also a finalist riding Travs Scooter and Hokies Cat.

Rapp, Rapp: Who won the Brazos Bash Non-Pro Futurity?
Mary Ann Rapp claimed the championship of the Brazos Bash Non-Pro Futurity with 216 points on Neat Little Ray, and also took reserve with 213.5 on the aptly-named Twice Is Right. Her winner’s check paid $14,000; reserve brought $10,210.
Rapp placed seventh with Neat Little Ray, by Dual Rey, in the Music City Non-Pro Futurity, but this was the first check for Twice Is Right, by Smart Little Lena out of Phil and Mary Ann Rapp’s former champion Tapt Twice.

Sarah Morine and Frecks Jewel shine in Brazos Bash Non-Pro Derby
Sarah Morine and Frecks Jewel cut it close to win the Brazos Bash Non-Pro Derby over Jerry Durant and Desires Little Rex by 215 to 214.5 points. Morine and her Bobs Freckle gelding also were champions of the Bonanza Non-Pro Gelding division and have earned nearly $50,000.
Durant’s Smart Little Lena son, Desires Little Rex, was reserve champion of the 2007 NCHA Open Futurity with Bubba Matlock and has earned more $215,000.
