Tootsie Rey, owned by Phil and Mary Ann Rapp, won the Brash Bash 5 & 6-Year-Old Classic for Phil Rapp. The 5-year-old Dual Rey daughter earned $20,000 for her 219-point victory. Copaspepto, 2007 NCHA Horse of the Year and champion of last year’s Brazos Bash Derby, placed second with 218.5 points under Tag Rice for Marvine Ranch.
It was the second major win of Tootsie Rey’s career. She won the 2007 Pacific Coast Futurity Non-Pro 4-year-old division for Mary Ann Rapp and placed as reserve of the Open of the same event with Phil. She has lifetime NCHA earnings of $155,840, while Peptoboonsmal son Copaspepto, champion of six major events, has NCHA career earnings of $352,891.
Sister CD, the #1 active NCHA money earner, split third and fourth with Purrceptive Cat ridden by Kory Pounds for Anderson Cattle Co. Owner Skip Queen was aboard Sister CD, who increased his earnings by $12,350, for a total of $666,100. Queen’s wife, Elizabeth will ride the gelded son of CD Olena in the Non-Pro division beginning on October 2.
