Dustin Gonnet rode CD Graceful Dual to victory in the Open finals at the NCHA Western National Championships, presented by 6666 Ranch Monday. CD Graceful Dual was bred by Winston Hansma and is owned by Rod MacDonald of Kamloops, British Columbia.
The win will take the horse’s earnings over $180,000. He is an 8-year-old by CD Olena out of Graciela Dual, making him a full brother to $117,000-earner Dmac Snoop Dog.
Gonnet, 28, is an earner of more than $400,000 in NCHA competition, and he is a six-time champion at the Canadian Supreme.
CD Graceful Dual topped the go-round with a 220, a point and a half ahead of Tim Denton riding Dennis Cusick’s Incredicat. He drew fifth in the first set of the 24-horse finals and won by half a point over Todd Bimat on Jerry Brown’s Royally Smart Cat.
