Josh Sleeman marked 221 on Ho Chi Minnie to win the $3,000 Novice finals at the 2010 NCHA Western National Championships, presented by 6666 Ranch last night at the Golden Spike Arena in Ogden, Utah.
Ho Chi Minnie is a 5-year-old mare by Cat Ichi out of Haida Ho, bred by Double Dove Ranch, and owned by Duane Bruner of Castle Rock, Washington. Haida Ho also produced Haidas CD, a CD Olena gelding that has earned more than $120,000, and four other NCHA money earners.
Ho Chi Minnie also had the top go-round score of 219. Her career earnings will go over the $20,000 mark with her Western Nationals win. She has previously been an Open finalist at the Idaho Futurity, Pacific Coast Derby and Fort Klamath Ranch Festival.
Carly Chiarelli, 15, won the Senior Youth finals with a 218 on High Yield CD, a son of CD Olena owned by Denise Tortorice. Carly is a past winner of the $50,000 Amateur at the Western National Championships.
Kate Gerla, 14, won the Junior Youth finals with a 215 on My Own San Lena, a 9-year-old mare by My Own League.
