Robert Tiemann, 60, of Pflugerville, Texas, marked 213.5 last night to win the Amateur Senior title in the XTO Energy NCHA Super Stakes Classic. The senior title was decided in the Amateur finals, where the contestants ranged from 11-year-old Andrew Viola of Fort Worth, Texas, to 74-year-old Don Lee Smith of Pierre, South Dakota.
Tiemann rode his 6-year-old gelding Bet It All On Me to place eighth overall in the Amateur finals. Bet It All On Me is by Bet On Me 498, out of Kwackin.
Interestingly, Bet It All On Me and the Hangem Cat, the gelding that carried Ryder Carpenter to the Amateur championship, are both direct descendants of NCHA Futurity Champion and Futurity Champion producer Lynx Melody on the bottom side.
Bet It All On Me goes back through Kwackin to Crackin to Lynx Melody. Hangem Cat goes back through Hangem High Playboy to Stressin to Crackin to Lynx Melody.
Tiemann was an Amateur finalist at the Bonanza on Bet It All On Me earlier this year.
He won the Amateur Senior and was reserve champion in the Amateur finals at the 2010 NCHA Futurity, riding Ubet Ima Barmaid, the first NCHA money earner by Ubet I Wood.
