Caitlin Patty of Lindale, Texas, 2010 NCHA Rookie of the Year, topped the $50,000 Amateur finals at the NCHA Eastern National Championships, presented by 6666 Ranch, Saturday in Jackson, Mississippi.
Patty, 18, marked 223 on Playboys A Smarty for a 4-point win over Alexis Carissa Stephas. She posted the fifth highest score, 216, behind Page Bowman’s 221 in Thursday’s go-round. She drew ninth in the first bunch in the 31-horse finals which paid out more than $42,000.
Playboys A Smarty is an 11-year-old son of Smart Little Lena out of Augusta Classic champion Lenas Playgirl. An NCHA Derby finalist in 2004, Playboys A Smarty’s earnings will go over $140,000 with his latest win.
Caitlin Patty finished fifth on Playboys A Smarty in the 2010 NCHA World standings in the $50,000 Amateur class.
Alexis Stephas of Chattanooga, Tennessee, rode Swing In Time to a 219 for the reserve title. She also placed fourth in the Senior Youth finals on the 8-year-old gelding by A Chic In Time.
