Denise Seiz of Cedartown, Georgia marked 220 midway through the first set of the finals and held on for the $35,000 Non-Pro championship at the NCHA Eastern National Championships, presented by 6666 Ranch, today in Jackson, Mississippi. Earlier in the day, her 216 on Stylish Playlin in the go-round tied her for fifth best score, behind Diane Foster on Smart Cinch Olena who marked 222.
Stylish Playlin is a 17-year-old gelding by Docs Stylish Oak out of Lintons Playgirl, a half-sister to Zack T Wood. Stylish Playlin has ridden by Tag Rice when he was Reserve Champion in the 1997 Non-Pro NCHA Futurity. Today’s win will take the gelding’s earnings over the $175,000 mark.
The $35,000 Non-Pro carried a purse of more than $39,000, an all-time record for the limited non-pro class at the Eastern Nationals.
Reserve Champion Frank Harrison of Oklahoma City marked 218 on Colored Child, a 7-year-old Paint mare by Playdox.
