Kolby Don Moore, who celebrated his 14th birthday on Friday, marked 219 on FMR Smart Duces to win the $2,000 Limited Rider class at the NCHA Eastern National Championships, presented by 6666 Ranch, in Jackson, Mississippi on Sunday. He held a three-point lead over co-champions Jamie Feldman of Ocala, Florida riding Shortys Playgun and Jessica Hamm of Wilburton, Oklahoma riding Style O Lizzy.
Moore, who scored 209 in the go-round, tied for third in the Junior Youth finals with a 214 on the horse earlier in the day. Owned by Nicole Tyrell of Clewiston, Florida, FMR Smart Duces is a 7-year-old by Smart Sugar Badger out of the Smart Little Jerry mare Smart Of Gold. Smart Of Gold is half-sister to 2001 NCHA Futurity Champion and successful sire San Tule Freckles.
