This was a lucrative weekend for NCHA competitors, with two major limited age events and NCHA Eastern National Championship finals.
Reycy Moon and Matt Gaines topped the Cattlemens Open Derby finals with 224 points, on Friday in Graham, Texas, for a payout of $12,125. Princess Clarence and Matt Miller claimed reserve and $11,059.
Meanwhile, My Lizzy Babe, shown by Tim Smith, and Oak Ill Be Peppy, with Morgan Cromer, tied with 220 points for the the championship of the PCCHA Derby in Paso Robles, California. While My Lil Lanta Lena, under Bonnie Johnson, and Sway Cat, with Gavin Jordan, tied for the championship of the Open Classic/Challenge. Payouts for the Derby and Classic/Challenge were $12,070 and $11,899, respectively.

Shepards prevailed in the Open division of the NCHA Eastern National Championships, in Jackson, Mississippi. Austin Shepard showed Playin At The Mall to a 222.5 victory, for a $5,800 (est.) payout, while Austin’s father, Sam, scored 221 points for reserve aboard Dees Mr Charles. Sam also claimed fourth place with 218 points on Playin Witha Cat.
