Dan Hansen, the NCHA Non-Pro World Champion of 2007, lengthened his lead in the 2011 World Championship race by marking a 225 in the finals of the $25,000-added 2011 Mercuria NCHA World Series at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo tonight.
Hansen and Woody Be Lucky marked 219 in yesterday’s go-round to tie for the fifth highest score going into the finals.
Woody Be Lucky, an 11-year-old gelding by Nitas Wood out of Playboys Ladyluck, by Freckles Playboy, picked up an estimated $8,512 in the finals to take his lifetime earnings over $430,000.
Last year, Hansen and Woody Be Lucky won the Mercuria NCHA World Series event at Calgary, and were second at San Antonio. They were also finalists at this year’s San Antonio Rodeo event.
Hansen has earned more than $1.1 million, and is leading the 2011 NCHA Non-Pro World standings. Tonight’s check will increase his lead to more than $8,000.
Justin White was second tonight on Wild Hickory Bob, the Bobs Hickory Rio gelding that carried him to a win in the NCHA Futurity. Lauren Chariter tied for third with Kelsey Conn and will move into second place in the 2011 standings.
