Four-year-old Blue One Time, ridden by Clint Allen, claimed $20,958 for his 222-point win in the Tunica Open Futurity on Friday, February 4, according to unofficial results.
The One Time Pepto son, owned by Dave and Georgia Husby, Weatherford, TX, was a finalist (8th) in the NCHA Futurity and the Abilene Spectacular (7th); he now has official NCHA career earnings of $76,300.
ARC Moonstruckplease, ridden by Michael Cooper for George Ward, was reserve champion with 220.5 points. This was the Chic Please son’s first major finals; he earned $17,879.
“Roger (Wagner) had such a good foundation on that horse that it was easy to follow,” said Allen, who got Blue One Time as a long 2-year-old, following the Rock Creek Dispersal Sale, where the Husbys purchased him for $245,000.
“His mama was a great horse,” Allen added. “He’s got a good look about him and he’s really smart about a cow.”
Blue One Time is out of Quintan Blue, the 2004 NCHA Futurity Open reserve champion under Wagner and NCHA earner of $594,637.
