Kristen Galyean and Some Like It Hott won the Abilene Spectacular Non-Pro championship with 222 points. It was the same score her husband, Wesley, and Some Like It Hott earned as reserve champions of the 2010 NCHA Futurity.
In one month of showing, the Galyeans’ mare has earned $105,770; in just over two years of showing, Kristen has earned $163,950.
“I showed in the pleasure industry since I was five,” said Galyean, who won the second cutting event that she had ever entered – the 2009 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Ltd – just a few months after she and Wes were married.
Last year, Galyean stepped up in class to win the NCHA Derby Non-Pro, as well as the NCHA Derby Non-Pro Ltd, on Harley, who she showed this week at Abilene to win the Classic Non-Pro Ltd and place fifth in the Non-Pro.
“She’s a little bitty mare, but she can really move and stop,” said Wes Galyean of Some Like It Hott, sired by Spots Hot, the horse that Wes showed to win the 2004 NCHA Futurity.
Wes Galyean was co-champion of last weekend’s Abilene Spectacular Classic aboard Rascal Cats.
