Sisters My Brother and Wade Rust earned the biggest payout – $18,000 as champions, of the Non-Pro Derby – on the last day of the Brazos Bash Cutting in Weatherford, TX. But Jon Winkelried took home two trophies as champion of the Classic Amateur division on Cherry Chex Dually, and champion of the Derby Amateur aboard Olenas Color Me, for a total of $8,500.
Winkelried was also the highest-scoring rider from all divisions, including the open, with his 226-point performance on Cherry Chex Dually, a Hes A Peptospoonsful daughter, who won the Classic Open finals and $20,000 with 222 points earlier in the week, under Eddie Flynn. Her Brazos Bash earnings increased 6-year-old Cherry Chex Dually’s lifetime earnings to $230,338.
Dusty Adams earned $7,000 and the Non-Pro Futurity championship with Justa Little Jimmy. This was the fourth consecutive championship win for Adams and his Smart Little Lena son out of Justa Swinging Jane, the 2000 NCHA Derby Non-Pro champion for Kelle Earnheart, who was reserve champion, with, 200 points on Badgers Perscription, to Wade Rust in the Brazos Bash Non-Pro Derby.
Glade Knight claimed the Classic Non-Pro title and $17,000 on Playin N Fancy Smart, who now has NCHA earnings of $338,236. He also tied for seventh place and earned $6,167 on Smooth Asa Zee.
