Cats Quixote Jack claimed a rare double championship last Friday with wins in both the Western Horseman Open and Non-Pro Cups, presented by Gist Silversmiths on finals weekend of the Augusta Futurity. The 5-year-old son of High Brow Cat scored 226 points in the open with Kory Pounds, and 222 in the non-pro with owner Michelle Anderson. The $35,000 in prize money increased his lifetime total to $159,267.
It was Anderson’s first time to show at Augusta and her first time to show Cats Quixote Jack since she won the NCHA Non-Pro Derby on him last summer. “It felt just right again,” she said. “He was right on target. He’s unreal to me.”
Anderson and Cats Quixote Jack were also champions of the 2007 NCHA Super Stakes Limited, and Anderson rode Fat Cat Named Jack as champion of the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Limited.
