A First Down Dash (pictured) in-utero foal sold for $125,000 on Thursday, January 17, the first night of the three-day Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale of Quarter race horses, in Oklahoma City.
Consigned by Lazy E Ranch for Lucas Racing Inc., New Market, MD, the unborn foal, with an estimated foaling date of April 2008, was purchased by Ray Willis of Roswell, New Mexico. The foal’s dam, Runaway Wave, was American Quarter Horse racing’s champion broodmare in 2005. The 13-year-old stakes-placed daughter of Runaway Winner has produced seven winners from nine starters, including 2006 world champion Wave Carver and two-time champion Ocean Runaway.
A Shot At Glory, an unraced 4-year-old daughter of Strawfly Special and half sister to two-time champion and 2002 All American Futurity winner AB What A Runner, sold for $122,000 to Lyle Guillory of Alexandria, Louisiana. Consigned by PK Thomas and Kim Kubinski, she is believed to be in foal to Corona Cartel, 2007 leading sire of Quarter race earners.
