It’s been a good year for Michelle Cowen, Ardmore, OK. She has captured five non-pro reserve championships in cutting competition and on Saturday, October 6 in Reno, she won the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Non-Pro Futurity aboard Wheres My Shine.
“It’s wonderful to raise a baby, train it and go win,” said Cowan, referring to her homegrown Shining Spark daughter. “I tried not to hope too much that it would happen.”
Cowan earned $29,925 for the 656-point win; Justin Wright was reserve champion with 648.5 riding Talkin Prize.
The Intermediate Non-Pro finals was won by Jerry Alvord, of Wilson, OK, on Smartlight Dot Com, by Ill Be Smart. Tarin Rice, 18, whose father Boyd won the Snaffle Bit Open Futurity on Oh Cay N Short, was Intermediate Non-Pro reserve champion on Gold D Olena by CD Olena.
