Elizabeth Queen marked 230 on NCHA’s leading active money earner, Sister CD, to win the Non-Pro, as the next to last rider in the first round of the 2009 Mercuria Energy NCHA World Finals in Fort Worth last night. She was followed by former Non-Pro World champion Paula Wood, who marked 226 on Donas Cool Cat.
“I tried to enjoy myself,” said Queen. “It was a great crowd and it was a lot of fun. I’m really thankful to (NCHA President) Chubby Turner and Mercuria and all the sponsors because it gave another opportunity to show him.”
Sister CD’s $6,410 paycheck gives him a career total of $771,060, and it moves Elizabeth Queen a little further ahead of seven-time Non-Pro World Champion Mary Jo Milner in the quest for this year’s title. After last night, Queen has an $8,483 lead over Milner in the year-end race.
