Saturday, December 7, when the 2024 NCHA Futurity Sales concluded with Session IV of the Preferred Breeders Sales and Western Bloodstock celebrated its 25th anniversary of producing the NCHA Futurity Sales, grand totals for the week surpassed all other NCHA Futurity Sales with 79% of the horses offered selling for over $41 million, and an average of $53,465.
The 2024 NCHA Futurity Sales began on December 2, with the first day of the Two-Year-Old Sale Sessions, where 17 horses sold for $100,000 or more. Five days later, when the 2024 Futurity Sales ended, 84 horses had been sold for $100,000-plus.
Spice Tag, consigned by Teton Ridge, was Saturday’s Session IV high seller at $335,000. Purchased by Lacey Simmons, Kileen, AL, the blue roan yearling filly is by Hashtags LTE $485,293, whose son Too Hot To Tagg won the 2024 NCHA Open Futurity and $377,730 just hours after the end of the 2024 NCHA Futurity Sales.
Spice Tag, is out of NCHA Horse of the Year and Open NCHA Futurity Champion All Spice $571,049, whose first foals arrived in 2022, and whose dam Show Biz Kitty, by High Brow Cat, has produced earners of $2,843,750, including top sires Badboonarising LTE $367,101 and Rollz Royce LTE $354,032.
Show Biz Kitty is also the second dam of the Hottish daughter Glitterish, who topped this week’s Preferred Breeders Sale Session I for the price of $250,000.
Stylin Like Stevie, consigned by Clint and Debbie Matthews Cutting Horses, brought Session IV’s second-highest price, $250,000, from James Shoppa, Westlake, TX. The yearling blue roan filly, by Stevie Rey Von, is out of Stylin Playgirl LTE $211,777, by Docs Stylish Oak, and is a sister to earners of over $770,677, including High Stylin CD LTE $327,460.
Heatted, consigned by Beechfork Ranch (JC Sale Fitting, Agent) sold in Session IV for $230,000 to Nate Ahlin, Fort Worth, TX. The sorrel yearling colt is by $19-million-dollar sire Hottish and out of Toytallic LTE $93,867, whose first foals arrived in 2021. Second dam Smartlittlelenastoy LTE $21,321, by Smart Little Lena, is the producer of 17 earners of $891,234.
