The Absolute Reduction Sale of Fults Ranch, held at the ranch in Amarillo, Tex., on Thursday, August 19, 2021, set a cutting industry benchmark, highlighted by the Stevie Rey Von daughter Sweet On Stevie selling for $725,000.
Featuring offspring of 2015 NCHA Futurity champion Stevie Rey Von, whose first crop will compete in the 2021 NCHA Futurity, the sale realized $3,547,700 and an average of $42,235 for the 84-horse lineup. Six horses sold for $100,000 or more, including the weanling filly Stevies So Sweet, who brought $500,000.
Both Sweet On Stevie and Stevies So Sweet, were purchased by Teton Ridge Ranch, Weatherford, Tex., a new high profile presence on the cutting horse scene.
Sweet On Stevie and Stevies So Sweet are full siblings out of Sweet Abra, the leading dam of NCHA earners of over $1.9 million, including NCHA Horse of the Year Metallic Rebel (LTE $438,315, by Metallic Cat), a three-quarter brother to Sweet On Stevie and Stevies So Sweet.
Buck Creek Quarter Horses, Nemo, Tex., paid $200,000, the sale’s third-highest price, for the Stevie Rey Von yearling colt Freyt Treyn. Out of My Little Abra, a full sister to Sweet Abra, Freyt Treyn is a half-brother to 2016 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Ichis My Choice ($425,517, by Cat Ichi); his yearling full brother Octavius was purchased by Teton Ridge Ranch for $100,000.
Beechfork Ranch, Weatherford, Tex., purchased Sassy Lass Abra, a 12-year-old full sister (Abrakadabracre x The Better Choice) to leading producer Sweet Abra. The dun mare sold for $135, 000, with an embryo by Stevie Rey Von due in 2022.
Wood U B Metallic, a yearling Metallic Cat filly and full sister to Just U N Me Baby (LTE $115,152) brought a winning bid of $135,000 from Lloyd Cox, as agent for Mike Ruff. The red roan filly is out of Wood U N Me Baby (LTE $179,692, by Nitas Wood) a full sister to Woodys Baby (LTE $406,442).
