Shelli Moreda, Woodland, Calif., scored 220 points riding Blu Chip Cat, by Once In A Blu Boon, on Tuesday, April 13, to win the NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes Limited Amateur. Jocelynne Wolter, Fortuna, N.D., was reserve champion with 218 aboard Minty Sweet, by Sweet Lil Pepto, while Katy Fornas, Austin, Tex., placed third with 215.5 points on Baby Blu Eyz, by War Dog Bird.

This is the first limited age event win for Shelli Moreda, the NCHA earner of $16,312, who also earned first-place payout in the Limited Amateur Gelding division. Previously Moreda had placed eighth in the Idaho Amateur Futurity 5/6 Amateur Classic on Hallelujah Kat LTE $29,088, by Halreycious, out of a full sister to the dam of Blu Chip Cat. She also placed seventh in the 2019 Way Out West Series Cascades All Age Amateur on PRF Smooth Cat Ruby LTE $55,914, by Smooth As A Cat.

Six-year-old Blu Chip Cat LTE $53,424 was a consistent Open limited age event finalist under Terry Hollis, most recently to place third in the 2020 Cotton Stakes 5/6 Intermediate Open. Blu Chip Cat is out of My Sweet Cat, an unshown daughter of High Brow Cat and full sister to High Brow CD LTE $502,202, Sweet Little Cats LTE $213,270, and Candi Cat LTE $135,156.

This was the first limited age event finals performance for Jocelynne Wolter, the NCHA earner of $12,677. Previously she placed third on Minty Sweet in the 2020 NCHA $15,000 Amateur World Finals. Minty Sweet LTE $27,703, a 6-year-old Sweet Lil Pepto daughter bred by Wayne Robinson, placed third in the 2019 Calgary Open Futurity under Dustin Gonnet, who also showed her to place fourth in the Canadian Spectacular Futurity.

This is also the first limited age event finals for Katy Fornas, the NCHA earner of $3,082. Her mare, 7-year-old Baby Blu Eyz LTE $42,618, by War Bird Dog out of Cinsational, by Peppys Buckshot Bob, began her career as a 2017 NCHA Futurity Open Semi-Finalist and Open Limited finalist under Hayden Upton, and competed successfully in Non-Pro competition with Philip Garrison.
