Catolena Cashin In LTE $83,680, shown by Tarin Rice for Joel Colgrove, Boligee, Ala., on Monday March 29,  scored 225 points to top the fourth and last day of NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes 4-Year-Old Open first go-round competition. The Reyzin The Cash son is among 128 horses with scores of 214 points or higher, who advanced to the 4-Year-Old Open second go-round, on Tuesday, March 30.  

Catolena Cashin In and Tarin Rice placed in the finals of the NCHA Futurity (16th) and the 2021 Abilene Spectacular (9th), and went on to win the Ike Derby with 226.5 points and to claim the Arbuckle Mountain Derby reserve championship with 227.5 points.

Bred by Joel Colgrove, Catolena Cashin In is out of Dual Catolena LTE $37,917, a full sister to Cats Dual Lena LTE $97,174, among earners of $367,852 out of DPS Lenas Lucinda LTE $70,987, by Dual Pep.

Dr Sueish leads 24 horses to 5-Year-Old Open Finals

Dr Sueish LTE $83,036, who scored 223 points in a three-way tie for high score of the 5-Year-Old Open first go-round, earned 219.5 in Monday’s second go-round for the combined leading average of 442.5 points. Twenty-four horses with combined scores of 435.5 points or higher qualified for the 5-Year-Old Open Finals on Wednesday, March 31, including Special Edition Cat LTE $39,179, with 442 points under James Payne for Chris and Grant Schiller, Stillwater, Okla., as well as Spookys Honey Badger LTE $35,252, shown by Grant Setnicka for Robert Thigpen, Chilton, Tex., and Sanctus LTE $147,504, under Adan Banuelos for Scott Durham, Fort Worth, Tex., who each tallied 441.5 points.  

Owned by Robert Tregemba, Castle Rock, Colo., Dr Sueish was bred by Bambi Gress, Ennis, Mont. The Hottish-sired gelding is the first money earner out of WR This Cats Smart daughter Sues So Smart LTE $113,652, a half-sister to Boon Too Suen LTE $250,368, among earners of over $1.5 million out of Meradas Little Sue LTE $670,098, by Freckles Merada.

Kenny Platt, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $1.9 million, showed Dr Sueish as an NCHA Futurity Open semi-finalist. Earlier this year, following a successful showing in 2020 events, the pair placed third in the Cattlemens 5/6 Open Classic.

Spookys Honey Badger, by Hottish, was bred by Jeff Barnes, Wilton, Calif., out of the High Brow Cat daughter Spookys Nine Eleven, a half-sister to Reyzin The Cash LTE $274,386, among earners of over $727,000 out of Spookys Cash LTE $284,313, by Miss N Cash.
