Bit Of A Kit Kat, shown by Morgan Cromer, and Dreamy Martini, ridden by Adan Banuelos, tied with 222 points to share the championship of the El Rancho 3-Year-Old Open Futurity in Rancho Murieta, Calif., on Thursday, September 10.
Reyzin Your Guns, also shown by Banuelos, and Starlights Lil Fox, ridden by Monty Buntin, tied with 216 points, the second-highest score from the 11-horse finals.
Dreamy Martini LTE $22,000 is owned by breeder, Dottie Hill, Glen Rose, Tex. The Smooth Talkin Style daughter is out of the Docs Stylish Oak daughter Stylish Martini LTE $361,920, winner of three major NCHA events in Fort Worth, including the 2011 NCHA Derby. Stylish Martini is the dam of five earners of $105,056, including Martini Smoothie LTE $26,961, a three-quarter brother to Dreamy Martini.
Adan Banuelos, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $3,352,216, won last year’s El Rancho Futurity on Armani Blue LTE $37,878, by Smooth As A Cat. In addition to the El Rancho Futurity, Dreamy Martini placed fourth in the Idaho Futurity and was a finalist in the West Texas Futurity with Adan Banuelos.
Bit Of A Kit Kat LTE $22,057, by Kit Kat Sugar, is owned by Philip and Teresa Ralls, Paso Robles, Calif., and was bred by Art & Sandy Haskins out of Bit Of Starlight LTE $71,164, reserve champion of both the Open and Non-Pro divisions of the Pacific Coast Cutting Stakes in 1997. Bit Of Starlight is the producer of seven NCHA and NRCHA earners of $149,691.
Morgan Cromer, an NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $3,319,943, won the 2016 NCHA Super Stakes Classic on Maid Of Metal, and has claimed multiple Pacific Coast Futurity and Derby championships. Bit Of A Kit Kat was a finalist under Cromer in both the Cascades Futurity and the Idaho Futurity on his way to El Rancho.
The El Rancho Futurity was the first finals performance for Reyzin Your Guns LTE $8,358. The Reyzin The Cash-sired colt is owned by his breeder, Katie Banuelos of Las Vegas, Nev. Smart Little Jaebar daughter Jaebars Angel LTE $83,032, the dam of Reyzin Your Guns, has produced five earners of $56,758.
Starlights Lil Fox LTE $23,045 is owned by Steve and Stacy Morgan of Lincoln, Calif., and was bred by Glenn & Debbie Drake, Napa, Calif. Starlights Lil Fox and Monty Buntin won the 3-year-old Idaho Futurity and earned money in the Cascades Futurity prior to the El Rancho. Buntin is the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $1,296,813.
