The first annual Rocking P Ranch Production Sale on Friday, July 24, the first day of Western Bloodstock’s 2020 Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale, realized winning bids from as far North as Canada, as far West as California and Wyoming, as far East as North Carolina, and as far South as Miami, Fla. Many buyers were on site at Will Rogers Memorial Center, during the NCHA Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular in Forth Worth, but others placed their winning bids off site, remotely, thanks to a new feature offered by Western Bloodstock.
The high seller, at $60,000, was the yearling filly Rebelin Hot, by 2017 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Metallic Rebel LTE $411,837, out of Cinca Im Hot LTE $265,169, by Spots Hot. Rebelin Hot was purchased by Beau Galyean, who showed Metallic Rebel, as well 2009 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Metallic Cat LTE $574,494, the all-time leading, living sire of earners of over $34 million. In addition, Rebelin Hot represents the power of Rocking P breeding, as the paternal granddaughter of Metallic Cat and the maternal granddaughter of Spots Hot, both of whom are owned by Rocking P Ranch.
Get Outta The Rey, by Dual Smart Rey, purchased by Colette Lesh, Stillwater, Okla., was the sale’s high selling stallion at $53,000. Sold in training with Jesse Lennox, 3-year-old Get Outta The Rey is out of the High Brow Cat daughter Ms Peppy Cat LTE $271,091, a two-time NCHA Open World Champion.
Pattie Rocks, the sale’s high-selling broodmare, went for $30,000 to Jim Good, Alvarado, Tex. The 7-year-old daughter of Rockin W, she is half-sister, out of Stylish Baby Doll LTE $193,587, to earners of over $600,000, including Boon San Baby LTE $244,049, by Boon San, and Fortune Bend LTE $173,302, by One Time Pepto. Pattie Rocks sold with a foal at side and bred back to Spots Hot LTE $527,682, and with an embryo transfer by Metallic Cat LTE $637,711.
