Rollz Royce, by Dual Smart Rey, and Beau Galyean clinched the 2020 Ike 5/6 Classic with 229 points, on Monday, February 3, in West Monroe, La. Defending 2019 Classic champion Blackish, sired by Hottish, and shown Lloyd Cox, claimed reserve with 226, while the 6-year-old Hottish gelding Hott Nu Cowboy, ridden by Cullen Chartier, took third with 224.5 points.
The win was worth $12,000 for 6-year-old Rollz Royce LTE $264,479 and was his seventh major career title. He has also earned six major reserve championships, including the 2018 Ike Derby, where he was second to Blackish and Lloyd Cox.
Bred by Royce Stalcup, owned by Thomas Guinn, Philadelphia, Miss., and shown exclusively by Beau Galyean, Rollz Royce racked up three of his wins in 2019, including the NCHA Classic Challenge with 229 points, the NCHA Super Stakes Classic with 228, and the Bonanza Classic with 227 points.
Blackish LTE $180,239 and Lloyd Cox, winners of the 2018 Ike Derby and co-reserve champions of the 2019 Ike Classic for owner and breeder Julie Jarma, topped the 2020 Ike Classic Open go-round on Sunday, February 2 with 227 points. Jarma also showed her mare to win the 2019 Brazos Bash Non-Pro Classic championship.
Blackish, Rollz Royce, and 5-year-old Bad Boonarising LTE $276,395, shown to place sixth in Monday’s Derby under Adan Banuelos, share a unique bottom line, which traces to the Son Ofa Doc daughter Show Biz Sandy LTE $81,222, the 1993 NCHA Open World Champion, shown by Billy Ray Rosewell. Rollz Royce and Bad Boonarising are both out of Show Biz Kitty, an unshown daughter of High Brow Cat and Show Biz Sandy, while Blackish is out of the Show Biz Kitty daughter SS Blacks Lil Kitty $186,700, sired by Blue Bayou Boon, bred by Starkey Smith, and primarily shown by her owner, Julie Jarma.
Third-placed Hott Nu Cowboy LTE $104,013, was bred by Wrigley Ranches and is owned by Circle R Cutting Horses, Ocala, Fla. Hott Nu Cowboy earned his biggest career paycheck at four, when he placed eleventh in the 2018 NCHA Open Super Stakes with Phil Rapp. He also placed in the 2018 Breeders Open Invitational and numerous other 2018 and 2019 events with Sean Flynn. In addition his third-place payout of $9,000 with Chartier in the 2020 Ike Classic, Hott Nu Cowboy also earned $2,195 as high-scoring Open Gelding.
