An average price of $15,851 – a 19% increase over last year’s sale – and 91% of horses sold from a total of 115 through the ring marked a banner second and final day for the 2019 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales, which had seen 85% of horses sold on the first day sold.
A total of nine horses, three on Friday and six on Saturday, sold for $50,000 or more. Yearling stallion DT Mr Catsanova was the sale topper, at $77,000, while 7-year-old mare Tazs Dreamgirl brought $75,000 as the high-selling broodmare.
DT Mr Catsanova, a black stallion sired by Hickory Holly Time out of the High Brow Cat daughter Cat Mist, is a half-brother to 2018 NRCHA Open Futurity champion SJR Diamond Mist LTE $179,883, as well as to 2007 PCCHA Open Futurity champion ARC Catty Dual LTE $168,762. NRCHA Stakes eligible, NCHA Super Stakes nominated, and enrolled in the National Reining Breeders Classic, DT Mr Catsanova was consigned by DT Horses, LLC, and purchased by Mark Cross, Davenport, Iowa.
DT Horses LLC also sold DT Hickorys Chex Mix, by Hickory Holly Time, to Melissa Garbrick, Ellensburg, Wash., for $57,000. The red roan yearling colt is out of Lil Miss Shiney Chex, a Top 10 all-time leading dam of RCH money earners, including 2019 NRCHA Open reserve champion Nineteen Ten, a full brother to DT Hickorys Chex Mix, and 2013 NRCHA Open reserve champion Blind Sided LTE $224,468, by Peptoboonsmal.
Tazs Dreamgirl, by Pepto Taz, was consigned by her breeder, Kathleen Moore, and purchased by Robert Simpson, Kirkland, Ariz. The earner of $106,229, Tazs Dreamgirl sold with a Stevie Rey Von foal in utero, which will be eligible for the NRCHA Stakes. Her 2016 Metallic Cat son, Honky Tonk Dreams, is the earner of $15,012.
Cats Nu Shine, consigned by Wagonhound Ranch and purchased for $65,000 by Clinton Marshall, Rathdrum, Idaho, was the high-selling yearling filly. Sired by WR This Cats Smart, Cats Nu Shine is out of the Shining Spark daughter Shiney Nu Annie, 2014 NRCHA Open Futurity reserve champion and NRCHA Celebration of Champion Open champion, and earner of $104,961.
LBR Chic Olena brought $60,000 as the second-highest selling yearling filly. Consigned by Charles Burger and purchased by Blue Allen, Alamosa, Colo., the Smart Chic Olena daughter is a half-sister to Simple Livin LTE $140,060, a Top 10 finalist in the 2011 NCHA Non-Pro Futurity.
Playgirls Miss Grace LTE $100,717, a 14-year-old daughter of Mister Dual Pep and dam of multiple money earners, sold for $52,000. Consigned by WW Ranch, LLC and purchased by Ty Smith, Edmund Okla., Playgirls Miss Grace sold with an embryo by Hashtags.
