There were few surprises on Wednesday, the first of two days of NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes Open second round competition, as first go-round leaders maintained their edge. The high score of the day was 219 points, earned by the current cumulative leader Exs N Ohhs, shown by Lloyd Cox, and by White Lights with R.L. Chartier.
Exs N Ohhs LTE $40,585, sired by Kit Kat Sugar, and bred and owned by Barker Ranch, Madill, Okla., scored 220.5 points in the first go-round and has a cumulative score of 439.5 points. White Lights built on a first round score of 215.5 for a 434.5-point cumulative. The Metallic Cat gelding was bred by his owners, R.L. and Mica Chartier, Weatherford, Tex. R.L. Chartier also scored 218 points on Caution Piping Hot for a cumulative score of 434.5 points. The Hottish gelding, bred by Lisa Bankston, is owned by Rocking V Horses, Algonquin, Ill.
Miss Kitty Russel, shown by Tatum Rice, and Summer Time Fun, with James Payne, scored 218.5 and 218, respectively, to tie with 438 points, the second-highest cumulative score of the day. Miss Kitty Russel, sired by High Brow Cat, is bred and owned by Kevin and Sydney Knight, Weatherford, Tex. Summer Time Fun, by Metallic Cat, was bred by owner Ty Moore, Madill, Okla.
DMAC Doggfather, shown by Clint Allen, claimed 437.5 points, the day’s third-highest composite, with go-round scores of 219.5 and 218 points. The Kit Kat Sugar gelding was bred by Winston Hansma and is owned by David and Stacie McDavid, Fort Worth, Tex.
Louellas Tomcat, shown by T.J. Good, earned 221.5 points to claim high-score of the first go-round and gained a composite of 437 points following his 215.5-point performance in the second go-round. The High Brow Cat daughter is owned by Bitterroot Ranch, Las Vegas, Nev. Good also earned a cumulative of 435.5 points riding Smoothies Starlight for Alan Chappell, Collinsville, Tex.
