2018 North Texas Chevy Dealers NCHA Futurity, presented by Great American Insurance
CR Tuff Twinkie, shown by Jason Clark for Center Ranch, scored 220 points as first to the herd Saturday, in the 65-horse NCHA Futurity Open Semi-Finals. The Woody Be Tuff daughter was challenged, but never topped. Crey Zee, under Tatum Rice for Kevin and Sidney Knight, came closest to CR Tuff Twinkie with 219.5 points, while Ms Baby Cakes, with Lloyd Cox for Barker Ranch, and CR Tuff Tizzy, last to cut in the last set, with Travis Rempel for Rocking P Ranch, tied with 219 points. The ticket to the Open Finals was 216.5 points or higher, earned by 21 horses.
CR Tuff Twinkie was bred for owner Center Ranch out of Calie Del Rey ($109,261), by Dual Rey. Calie Del Rey is the producer of 13 NCHA earners of $405,402, including Hay Maker ($230,218), by Mr Jay Bar Cat.
CR Tuff Tizzy, also sired by Woody Be Tuff and bred by Center Ranch, is out of Dual Pep daughter ARC Catty Dual ($168,762), producer of 13 earners of $426,607, including One Catty Cupid ($191,577), by One Time Pepto. Rocking P Ranch purchased CR Tuff Tizzy for $350,000, in the 2017 Western Bloodstock NCHA Futurity Sales.
Crey Zee, by Dual Rey, was bred by owners Kevin and Sidney Knight out of the High Brow Cat daughter Eazee E ($211,145), who was also shown by Tatum Rice. Eazee E is out of Zee Dually ($201,899), a leading producer of earners of $1.8 million, including Smooth As A Zee ($616,978). On Friday night, Blakley Colgrove placed third in the NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Finals riding Smooth Magick, a full sister to Smooth As A Zee, and three-quarter sister to Eazee E.
Ms Baby Cakes, by Metallic Cat, was bred by owner Barker Ranch out of the Dual Rey daughter Special Nu Baby ($481,197), 2015 NCHA Open World Champion and producer of seven earners of $268,499, including Smooth Nu Cat ($193,816), by Smooth As A Cat.
