A new record was set Monday, in Session I of Western Bloodstock Ltd.’s NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale, when Tin Man, by Metallic Cat, sold for $500,000. The previous record was $400,000 for Eight Mile, by Metallic Cat, in the 2014 NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale.
Consigned by Wes and Lindy Ashlock and purchased by Stella Swanson, Midland, Tex., the red roan colt was one of four horses selling for over $100,000, on Monday. Rosa Del Pepto, a red roan mare by One Time Pepto, and consigned by Bill Neef, was purchased for $200,000 by Swanson, as well. Swanson is co-owner of Seven Ranch, Midland, Tex., which specializes in breeding, raising, and training Quarter Horse performers and ranch horses.
Tin Man, in training with Wes Ashlock, is out of the Dual Pep daughter Nurse Moss, and is a full brother to Melting Snow LTE $112,211, the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes Open reserve champion. Nurse Moss is a full sister to Dual Rey, an all-time leading sire of earners of over $37 million.
Rosa Del Pepto, in training with Zach Rodgers, is out of the High Brow Cat daughter Desires Some Cat, a half-sister to Desires Blue Trinity LTE $189,141.
Dan and Nancy Burkes, Hibbing Minn., paid $130,000 for Ametallicmanda, a Metallic Cat daughter consigned by Travis Stewart Performance Horses, agent for Beau Galyean. While Circle Y Ranch’s owner, Penny Youngblood, purchased the Metallic Cat daughter Ordered In Metallic for $125,000, from consignor Lone Oak Performance Horses.
Ametallicmanda, in training with Travis Stewart, is out of Stylish Amanda LTE $139,350, by Docs Stylish Oak, and is the producer of earners of $555,462. Ordered In Metallic, in training with Turner West, is out of The Doctress Orders LTE $150,000, by Dual Rey.
