Carly Chiarelli, Poolville, Tex., scored 222 points aboard Olive Martini, by Metallic Cat, on Thursday to win the NCHA/Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular Classic Challenge Limited Non-Pro finals. Gentry Gonsalves, Millsap,Tex., claimed reserve with 217 points on Georgia Bootlegger, by Dual Smart Rey, while Ryann Packard, Guthrie, Okla., placed third in the 13-horse finals with 215 points on Peptos Scootin Man, by Smart Lil Scoot.

Earlier on Thursday, preceding the Limited Non-Pro finals, Chiarelli and Olive Martini scored 217.5 points in the second go-round of the Classic Challenge division to secure the top cumulative score of 436.5 points. Bill Cowan, Ardmore, Okla., earned a cumulative of 436 points aboard 5-year-old Catty Bluz LTE $34,769, by Catty Hawk, while Kyle Manion, Aubrey, Tex., and 5-year-old Sofie Smooth LTE $14,361, by Smooth As A Cat, were third with 435 points. Riders with cumulative scores of 430.5 points or higher earned entrance to the finals scheduled for Sunday, July 22.

Carly Chiarelli, the NCHA earner of $276,700, and Olive Martini LTE $86,042, won the 2018 Cattlemen’s 5/6 Non-Pro Classic Non-Pro Limited and placed second in the 2018 Breeders Invitational 5/6 Non-Pro Limited Classic. They placed in the 2018 Cattlemen’s 5/6 Non-Pro Classic, as well as the Breeders Invitational 5/6 Non-Pro Classic, the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Limited, and the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro.

Chiarelli also won the 2009 NCHA Classic Challenge Amateur championship on Lil Peppys Advantage LTE $130,973.

Olive Martini, a 5-year-old daughter of Metallic Cat, is out of Martinis Miss Peppy LTE $246,925, half-sister to Miss Martini Play LTE $89,418, dam of earners of $1,102,410, including two NCHA Triple Hall of Fame Horses – Copaspepto LTE $416,882 and Stylish Martini LTE $361,920.

Senior Youth eligible Gentry Gosalves, the NCHA earner of $17,555, and 5-year-old Georgia Bootlegger placed second in the 2018 Non-Pro Cutting Non-Pro Limited division, as well as third in the 2018 Non-Pro Limited divisions of the NCHA Super Stakes Classic and the Breeders Invitational.

Georgia Bootlegger LTE $16,165, out of Cats Barmaid Chick, by Highbrow Cat, is a half-sister to Spoonfulla Cat LTE $246,168.

Junior Youth eligible Ryann Packard, the NCHA earner of $47,015, won the $35,000 Non-Pro division of the 2018 Non- Pro Cutting on Playin In Jewels LTE $87,309. In 2017, Packard and Peptos Scootin Man LTE $41,795 placed in the Non-Pro Limited divisions of the Cattlemen’s Derby (2), the Cotton Stakes (2), and the NCHA Classic Challenge (3).

2016 NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame inductee Bill Cowan, the earner of $817,617, won the 2008 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited and placed eighth in the Non-Pro Finals aboard Catty Hawk, the sire of Catty Bluz. In 2018, Cowan and 5-year-old gelding Catty Bluz have placed in the Abilene Spectacular Non-Pro and claimed reserve in the Non-Pro Limited division of that show; won the Cattlemen’s Derby Non-Pro Novice 5/6 division; and placed (7) in the Arbuckle Mountain 5/6 Non-Pro.

Kyle Manion, the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame earner of $1,696,022, placed seventh in the 2017 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Finals aboard Smooth As Mimi, by Smooth As A Cat. Sofie Is Smooth and Manion placed in the 2017 NCHA Derby Non-Pro Finals and won the 2017 NCHA Derby Non-Pro Novice divisions.

Five-year-old Sofie Is Smooth is out of Sofie Rey LTE $148,557, the dam of four earners of $57,264.
