2018 Lucas Oil NCHA Super Stakes – April 10, 2018 – Fort Worth, Tex.

Chelsea Tatum, Overbrook, Okla., scored 225 points in the Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Limited Finals to overtake Langston Pattillo, St. Elmo, Ill., who had earned 222 points earlier in the 12-horse field. Gentry Gonsalves, Millsap, Tex., placed third with 218.5 points.

Tatum showed the 5-year-old Dual Rey daughter Bobs Smart Rey, the horse that launched Tatum’s limited age event career, when they placed fourth in the 2016 NCHA Futurity. In 2017, the pair won the PCCHA Futurity 4-year–old Non-Pro; took reserve in the Ike Hamilton Futurity Non-Pro Limited; were finalists in the Cattlemen’s Derby Non-Pro (4th).

Earlier this year, Tatum and Bobs Smart Rey were reserve champions of the Abilene Spectacular 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro and won the Non-Pro Limited of that event. They have also qualified for the 2018 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Finals, slated for Thursday, April 12.

Chelsea Tatum is the NCHA earner of $81,541 and Bobs Smart Rey is the earner of $80,164. Bobs Smart Rey is out of Bobs Smart Change LTE $219,581, by Bob Acre Doc, and producer of earners of over $400,000.

Langston Pattillo showed High Stylin CD, by High Brow CD, who he also qualified for the Super Stakes Classic Amateur Finals. Pattillo also qualified for the Classic Amateur Finals with 215.5 points on Dualins Smooth Legacy, by Smooth As A Cat.

After winning the 2017 Brazos Bash 4-Year-Old Amateur, High Stylin CD and Pattillo kept up the pace with the 2018 Abilene Spectacular 5/6-Year-Old Amateur Unlimited reserve champion title and the 2018 Bonanza 5/6-Year-Old Amateur championship win, as well as money earned as a finalist in the Arbuckle Mountain 5/6 Amateur and the Cattlemen’s Derby 5/6-Year-Old Amateur Unlimited.

Pattillo is the NCHA earner of $66,237 and High Stylin CD is the earner of $33,008.

Gentry Gonsalves, an NCHA Senior Youth competitor with $5,255, prior to the Super Stakes, more than doubled her earnings with her third-place check aboard Georgia Bootlegger, by Dual Smart Rey. This marked 5-year-old Georgia Bootlegger’s first time to earn limited age event money, as well.
