Showing Redneck Creyzy, as the next-to-last rider on Friday, in the NCHA Futurity Unlimited Amateur Finals, Rocky Davis posted 219.5 points for the championship win. Bella Anderson, aboard Bobby Jack Cat, earned the reserve title with 219 points, and Reyly Plendl, riding LHR Play Boon, scored 218.5 points for third.
Davis, from Valley View, Alberta, Canada, earned 216.5 points on Wednesday to win the NCHA Futurity Unlimited Amateur semi-finals on Redneck Creyzy; the pair also showed in the Limited Non-Pro Finals on Monday.
An NCHA earner of $144,251, Davis came into the Unlimited Amateur semi-finals off of wins on 4-year-old Mouse Ichi LTE $11,565, by Cat Ichi, in the Arbuckle Mountain Amateur and Senior Amateur Finals, as well as a win on Monster Cat LTE $48,377, by High Brow Cat, in the Canadian Supreme Classic Amateur Finals.
Redneck Creyzy is by Dual Rey and out of Xquizit Cat LTE $13,435, by High Brow Cat.
Bella Anderson, Victoria, Tex., showed Bobby Jack Cat earlier in the week to win the Amateur go-round and to place third in the Futurity Amateur Finals. She also rode Martina Jack to qualify for the Futurity Non-Pro Semi-Finals. Both Bobby Jack Cat and Martina Jack are sired by Cats Quixote Jack LTE $276,696 and were bred by Bella’s family-owned ranch, Anderson Cattle Co., Victoria, Tex.
Earlier this year, Bella, an NCHA Youth rider, won the Amateur championship of the NCHA Classic Challenge with The Reyl McCoy LTE $145,026, as well as the Non-Pro Cutting 4-Year-Old Amateur championship on Jackie A LTE $25,290. The NCHA earner of $71,828, Bella was also an Unlimited Amateur finalist in the 2016 NCHA Futurity riding Reyl Purdy.
Reyly Plendl, Kingsley, Iowa, has enjoyed a banner year in 2017 as a finalist in six limited age events on 4-year-old Sunday Drive LTE $42,524, by Hydrive Cat. Their highlights include the title win of the Non-Pro Cutting Amateur, and third-place finishes in the Non-Pro Cutting Unlimited Amateur, the Breeders Invitational Amateur, and the NCHA Derby Amateur. They were also finalists in the NCHA Derby Unlimited Amateur and the NCHA Derby Non-Pro Limited.
LHR Play Boon, by Boon San, was bred by South Lazy H Ranch out of Rey Jay Play LTE $215,177, the dam of three NCHA earners of $106,719. Plendl is the earner of $124,306.
