The 2017 NCHA Super Stakes Sale, Saturday evening, April 8 in Fort Worth, reflected a strong demand for trained performers from an enthusiastic crowd. Sixty horses, a total of 77 percent from 81 head offered, sold for $669,300, with an average of $11,155; the average for the top 10 sellers was $20,250.
Five-year-old mare Super Sarahs Boon, the NCHA earner of $41,881, was the high seller at $51,000. Consigned by Fazenda Barrinha Corp. , Weatherford, Tex., the red roan daughter of Mr Boonsmal To You sold in training with Armando Costa Neto, who most recently showed her as a finalist in the 2017 Super Stakes Classic, as well as the 2017 Cattlemens Derby.
Heavy Metal Cat LTE $16,089 sold for $25,000, the sale’s second-highest price. The 6-year-old bay daughter of Metallic Cat was reserve champion of the 2014 PCCHA Futurity Unlimited Amateur. She was consigned by West Coast Cutting Horses and is in training with Morgan Cromer.
Also selling for $25,000, and consigned by West Coast Cutting Horses, was 5-year-old Make Me Purr LTE $19,412. The High Brow Cat daughter was reserve non-pro champion of the 2015 El Rancho Futurity and sold in training with Morgan Cromer.
Boons Red Moon, by Metallic Cat, also sold for $25,000. Consigned by Jeff and Griselda Neidhart, Farmington, N.M. and in training with Beau Galyean, the 3-year-old red roan gelding is out of Bet Yer Boons, dam of 12 NCHA and NRCHA earners of $408,086. Second dam is Bet Yer Blue Boons LTE $350,615, an NCHA all-time leading producer of earners of $1.1 million.
Five-year-old Crawl Lynn LTE $6,576, a full sibling to Lil Bit Reckless LTE $231,124 and Just As Reckless LTE $184,285, sold for $23,000. The CD Royal daughter, in training with Russ Westfall, was consigned by John and Rose Rockey, Palmdale, Calif.
Metallica CD LTE $25,688, by Metallic Cat, brought $22,000. The 6-year-old red roan gelding, third in the 2017 Abilene Spectacular Amateur Unlimited Gelding division, was consigned by Ken Hanson, Weatherford, Tex.
