Julie Beasley of Montgomery, Alabama, brings a lead of 217 into Saturday’s final day of first-round competition in the Rios of Mercedes Amateur division at the Jerry’s Chevrolet NCHA Futurity, presented by Great American Insurance.
Five riders, Natalie Newby, Grace Ann Vangilder, Bella Anderson, Bill Paxton and Catherine Wunder, have posted 216s.
Beasley is riding Metallics Twister in the Unlimited class, bred by Charlie Israel by Metallic Cat out of Some Kinda Twister. Some Kinda Twister earned $58,000 and also produced $201,000 earner Twistful Thinking, winner of the Non-Pro Super Stakes and NCHA Derby with Cade Shepard.
Beasley bought Metallics Twister as a yearling for $30,000 at the Western Bloodstock NCHA Futurity Sales.
