Non-Pro Hall of Famer Stacie McDavid of Fort Worth scored 219.5 on Tuesday to lead the first round of the Non-Pro at the Lucas Oil NCHA Super Stakes. She rode Dmac Wise Guy, by Hickorys Indian Pep.

Elizabeth Quirk’s 219 from the previous day held up as the second high score of the go-round. One hundred contestants marked 211 or better to advance to Wednesday’s second round.

David and Stacie McDavid bred Dmac Wise Guy out of Wise Little Miss, a Wise Play mare that won the Open Brazos Brash Classic with Jason Clark, and the Open Chisholm Trail Fall Roundup with Shannon Hall. Wise Little Miss also produced Wise Little Pepto, a gelding that Clark rode to win the Idaho Classic.

Dmac Wise Guy was an NCHA Futurity Non-Pro semi-finalist with Stacie McDavid.

Stacie, who has earned more than $750,000, is a three-time Super Stakes Non-Pro finalist: with Lenas Smart Missy in 2001, Little Chantilly in 2003 and Dmac Snoop Dog in 2006. She’s also made four trips to the Super Stakes Classic finals.

Ryan Rapp of Weatherford, Texas, and Katie Rice of Centerville, Texas, both marked 217 to lead the Limited Non-Pro go-round. Fourteen contestants scored 212 or better to advance to Friday’s finals.

Rapp rode Tuff Julie, a Woody Be Tuff x Missys Powder mare that also took him to the Limited Non-Pro finals at the NCHA Futurity.

Rice rode Miss Laureyna, a Smart Royal Rey x CR Hot Meow the she rode to win the Limited Non-Pro at the Cattlemen’s Derby, and take the reserve at Arbuckle Mountain. She was also a Non-Pro finalist at the Cattlemen’s Derby.
