Bet Yer Blue Boons, the NCHA World Champion of 2000, has not one, but two, of her foals going to the herd Saturday in the first round of the 2015 NCHA Futurity.

Saturday will have six sets of Open Round 1 competition, followed by the Unlimited Amateur Finals of the rich Western Bloodstock NCHA Showdown in Cowtown.

While Saturday’s Open Futurity roster includes only 90 horses, 23 of them are out of dams that earned $100,000 or more. And 14 of them are out of mares that have already produced earners of $500,000 or more.

Bet Yer Blue Boons, whose earners of $853,000 include 2011 World Champion Bet Hesa Cat and $100,000 earners Bets CD, Bet On Me 498 and Stylish Bet, will be represented Saturday by Bet Shes Smooth (Smooth As A Cat), ridden by Lindy Burch for Oxbow Ranch in the second set; and Crimson Bet (Metallic Cat), owned by Bar RR Ranches, in the fourth set.

Two other contenders Saturday will be out of a World Champion-producing dam. Twice Metallic (Metallic Cat) going for VP Cutting Horses in the fifth set; and Smooth As Haley (Smooth As A Cat), going for Tommy Manion in the sixth set, are both out of Tapt Twice, the $1.2 million-producing mare whose star baby is 2012 World Champion and 2011 Horse of the Year Dont Look Twice.

Million-dollar producer Desire Some Freckles will also send out a pair of candidates Saturday. They are Desires Star Cat (High Brow Cat) for Dan and Janice Eaton in the first set, and Desires Rolex (One Time Pepto) for Joel and Jayne Colgrove in the fifth set. The 3-year-olds were bred by Rockin 5 Ranch.

Autumn Boon, whose sons and daughters have garnered $1.5 million, will have A Smooth Satin Doll (Smooth As A Cat), ridden by 2014 Futurity Champion Phil Hanson for Lynn Leedy in the first set. Karen Freeman is the breeder.

Little High Brow Cat (High Brow Cat) will be in the fourth set for Carol Ward. The stallion is out of Little Baby Sister, a $1.1 million producer whose babies include Sister CD ($833,214). His breeder is Bar H Ranche.

Other notable dams for Saturday include:

  • Faith In Your Mate, the dam of NCHA Hall of Fame Horse Faith In My Cat, with Kittys Got Faith (Smooth As A Cat) bred by Lakeside Ranch and owned by Michael and Emily Townsend in the second set
  • Quiolena, the dam of $594,000 earner and $778,000 producer Quintan Blue, with Quiverin Mecom (Mecom Blue) bred by Wichita Ranch and owned by Lucious Randle Jr. in the fifth set.
  • Poosmal, a $934,000 producer, with CD Poos (High Brow CD), bred by Cottonwood Springs Ranch and owned by Plantation Farms in the third set
  • Sheza Smart Cat, a $787,000 producer  including Augusta Futurity champ Cat A Rey, with Set Fire To The Reyn (Dual Rey), bred by Painted Springs Farm and owned by Kathleen Moore in the fourth set.
