Three-time NCHA Sire of the Year High Brow Cat made his mark again in the first go-round of the $4 million NCI Building Systems NCHA Futurity this week in Fort Worth. Of 249 horses that advanced to today’s second round of competition, 58 were sired by High Brow Cat. High score for a High Brow Cat was 220 by Cats Vixen, which put her in a five-way tie for second.
Freshman sire Hes A Peptospoonful also made a big impression, with two of his geldings, DMac Spoonstruck and The Silver Spoon, also marking 220. Former Futurity champion Peptoboonsmal saw 15 of his offspring make it to the second round, headlined by go-round leader Copaspepto with a 221.
In all, 34 stallions were represented by more than one advancing horse, and another 40 stallions sired a single horse which survived the first round. Here’s a look at the stallions with more than one horse advancing:
