Quick To Dual and Jason Clark parried a stout roster of money earners to claim the Brazos Bash Open Derby with 226 points on September 30, 2013, at Silverado on the Brazos in Weatherford, Tex. Boon San Spoon and Jesse Lennox took reserve with 222.5 points.
Under the radar, Quick To Dual, by Dual Rey out of Slick Quick Cat ($42,030) and owned by Jayme Toledo Resende, added $20,000 from her Brazos Bash win to previous earnings of $6,324. While Boon San Spoon, owned and bred by Walton’s Rocking W Ranch, by Hes A Peptospoonful out of Boon San Kitty, was already the winner of $68,955, and increased his career total to $89,361, including earnings from his win in the Brazos Bash Derby Open Ltd.
Blu Ray, by Dual Rey out of leading earner and producer Quintan Blue, placed third with 220 points under Clint Allen, for David and Stacie McDavid of Fort Worth. Cat Countin Checks, by Im Countin Checks out of the High Brow Cat daughter A Cat Above ($176,867), was fourth with 219.5 points under Matt Gaines for Jamie Hill, Bastrop, Tex.
Sly Playgirl, shown by Jaime Snider for Rocking L Cutting Horses of Boca Raton, Fla., won the Brazos Bash Classic Open championship by a three-point margain, with 228 points, over Dirt N Da Skirt with Skip Queen for Carrolls Cutting, Turkey, NC. The $20,000 win by the That Sly Cat daughter increased her lifetime earnings to $332,134.
The Brazos Bash continues through Sunday, October 6.
