With more than $4.2 million on the line, the 2007 NCI Building Systems NCHA Futurity has attracted entries from around the world. Besides the United States and Canada, there are contenders from Australia, Brazil, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, and Venezuela. More than 160 individual sires are represented among the Open entrants, from High Brow Cat with 72 offspring, down to 75 individual sires with a single hopeful each.
While the top 15 sires by number of entries claim more than half the field, it’s interesting to note that the offspring of 18 freshman sires comprise nearly one-quarter of the Open field, with 171 entrants. These are the NCHA Futurity sires whose first crop of American Quarter Horses appeared in 2004:
- Bowmans Smart Jewel

Three of those, Little Polo Joe, Playin Wild and Skyco, have their entire 2004 crop of registered American Quarter Horses entered in the show.
